And fuck you Putin. I hope you rot in hell.
I’m not particularly in the mood for this post as you can see.
Putin’s miscalculation
This reads like a very credible explanation. The problem is now what is going to happen. Stay strong 🇺🇦❤️
Your Startup’s Management Training Probably Sucks
It’s pretty much a good bet. Does your company offer management training? Is it any good?
🍿 Pelikan Twist / Monteverde Key Lime Pie
I don’t remember how I found the Pelikan Twist, a pen designed for teaching kids to hold pen properly. Got one (black) “as a joke” for Christmas (it was on my wishlist), and very soon after I added 2 more (Shine Mystic and gold, gold version is supercheap in Amazon Spain): it is one of the smoothest pens I have ever used, and a joy to hold.
Data Team Branding
Ideas to solve a widespread problem in any organisation: answering what does the data team do, which anybody not in the data team asks at some point or another.
🍿 How to build a mature dbt project from scratch
Very good presentation from dbt Labs' Coalesce Conference 2021. It shows very well how to start with a migration project and improve it incrementally.
🐦 Shreyas Doshi: Advanced time management principles: (for senior product managers & leaders)
I seriously question whether this is only for senior product managers and leaders. I think it applies widely.
Executive presence coaching
A set of basic rules, but very often basic rules is what can take you from meh to awesome.
📚 Resilient Management
(this is not an affiliate link) Introduction to management book by Lara Hogan. It’s quite good, and short. Condenses a good amount of suggestions in a small and neat package.
Cost of Attrition
Visualising (via animations) the hidden cost of attrition on teams. Mostly based on the impact on graphs (of connections and knowledge). Losing one person can have a disproportionate impact due to their connectivity.
Grow your influence with the art of diplomacy
This is a hard lesson.
A career ending mistake
The mistake is not thinking where your career is taking you and just coasting through it. It may not lead to where you actually wanted to go.
Team Topologies for Data Engineering speeds time to Analytics
This looks… Confusing. I think that the fact that I (part of a Data Platform team) find it confusing makes me wonder how people on the more engineering side would see it.
Virtual Reality: My Digital Dojo for Mental & Physical Fitness
I haven’t played in several months, but Thrill of the Fight is extremely tiring. Most VR games are, to be fair.
Can touch this: M5Stack Core2
I got one of these for my birthday (but due to shipping issues it only arrived this week). It looks like good quality. So far I have only played with UIFlow (the almost no-code experience you can use to program it with a visual language).
Calendar Reviews
Defragmenting calendar is also useful. Also having “stuff to do” that can fit in 30 minutes, because sometimes defragging only gets you so far.
